Empowering Movement – New Bus Route in Padappai

In Padappai, children struggled to reach school and health centers due to poor public transportation. Many walked long distances or waited for rare buses, affecting attendance and safety. The Children’s Parliament took up the issue in their weekly meeting. They drafted a petition asking for better transport and presented it to local officials during a Gram Sabha.

Authorities responded positively, and after follow-up meetings, a new bus route 79L was introduced, with more frequent services. The change now helps schoolchildren, patients visiting hospitals, and elderly residents travel safely and on time. This case shows how organized youth action can improve community infrastructure and protect the right to education.
