A Second Chance at Education – Helping a School Dropout in Perumbakkam

In Perumbakkam, a 13-year-old girl faced a difficult life. She had lost both her parents and had no one to care for her. Without support, she stopped going to school and was in danger of being left behind. But the local Children’s Parliament, started by the Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers Welfare Trust (TNDWWT), noticed something was wrong. During their meeting, the children discussed her situation and decided to act. They called Childline (1098), the emergency helpline for children.

With help from Childline and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the girl was moved to a safe home. There, she received care, love, and protection. The next step was to get her back into school. The Children’s Parliament made sure she had uniforms, books, and the encouragement she needed to start learning again. Now, she goes to school every day and feels hopeful about her future. Her friends from the Children’s Parliament continue to check on her, making sure she is happy and safe. This story shows how children, when given the right knowledge and support, can protect each other and bring real change. One small act of care gave this girl a new life and a new chance to dream.
