Ms. Annapoorani, a determined domestic worker and proud resident of Kannagi Nagar, whose journey from hardship to hope is inspiring her entire community.
With two school-going children and a husband working as a painter, Annapoorani faced many financial and social challenges. Yet, her dreams for a better future never faded. Her turning point came when she received seed grant from The Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers Welfare Trust (TNDWWT). With this support, she launched a mobile fruit shop using a two-wheeler — an innovative idea that brought fresh fruits directly to the homes of people in her neighbourhood and surrounding areas. What started with a few fruit varieties soon grew into a thriving business, thanks to her hard work, cheerful approach, and commitment to quality.Today, Annapoorani's mobile fruit shop is well-known in the community. Her income supports her children's education and has improved her family’s quality of life. More importantly, she has become a beacon of hope for other women, proving that even a small opportunity can lead to lasting change.
"When you have a dream and the courage to pursue it, no obstacle is too big to overcome," she says with pride.
